CHEERLEADING
JOIN US AND BE A NATIONAL CHAMPION!
Our team of dedicated volunteers welcomes you to the Hamden Hurricanes cheerleading program. Hamden Hurricanes is a youth football and cheerleading association organized and administered by an all-volunteer charter known as the Hamden Fathers Football and Cheerleading Association (HFFCA), established in 1969.
The Hamden Hurricanes are affiliated with National Pop Warner Little Scholars Association. We work to introduce boys and girls to the great sports of football and cheerleading with an emphasis on sportsmanship and scholarship.
Over the last several seasons our cheer teams have competed at the highest level and have won numerous State, Local, Regional competitions, and most recently our JPW team won 2019 National Grand Championship at the Pop Warner National Championship held at Walt Disney World, Orlando FL.
Our Season
Summer practice begins August 1st with practices during the month of August typically three days a week, 2 hours per day. Practices will generally start between 5:30pm and 6:00pm based on the coach’s schedules. We switch practice location in doors in one of the Hamden schools when school begins. Cheering for football games will begin usually the first week of September. Our cheer program is very competitive and attendance at every practice and games are mandatory for all cheerleaders at every level. All cheer teams will compete in Southern Connecticut Pop Warner Football and Cheerleading Conference (SCPW) usually held in late September/early October. Those qualifying will be invited to the regional competition held in late November for a chance to travel to Disney World for the National Championships. National Championships are held in early December. We offer several different teams that are determined by age and skill level.
