President's Message

Greetings everyone! This is my second year as president of the HFFCA and I am honored to serve the Association again in this capacity. Welcome to the 2011 Season in the Hamden Fathers Football and Cheerleading Association. We are looking forward to a great season of football and cheerleading and invite you to be a part of it. As you can see, we have a new website! Browse our pages and tell us what you think.

At our annual meeting, we welcomed our 2011 executive board. We have a returning president, new vice-president and five new members and we are excited about the upcoming season. The Executive Board welcomes new members Ray Jones, Edison Ordonez, Marie Delaney and Leah Davis. In addition to the new members on the executive board, there have been other changes on the new board, with returning members taking on new roles. So check them out by clicking here.

The 2010 HFFCA season was a very successful season that saw the return of our Junior Midget football team. Hamden Pop Warner fielded all teams from flag (2 teams) to midget. The Junior Peewees, Junior Midgets and Midget football teams entered the playoffs and achieved playoff victories!

Our cheer teams were highly competitive and represented themselves and the Town of Hamden nicely, with the Junior Midgets moving on to compete at the Regional competition. I am very proud of all of our participants!

We put our final stamp of approval on the season by hosting our succesful return to a formal banquet setting to present trophies to our well-deserving cheer and football teams. We had a blast with our guest key note speaker, Hamden High School Football Coach Ron Carbone, delivering a very good thought-provoking and stirring speech, great food, live entertainment with a DJ and dancing!  Can't wait until next year. Let's do it again!

Our regular Association meeting is held every 2nd Wednesday of the month at 7:00pm at Hamden High School in Room A114. We meet every 2nd and 4th Wednesday at 8:00pm in the months of August, September and October. We encourage everyone to attend the meetings.

Our Executive Board meets prior to the regular meeting on the same schedule as above.

Come on down and join us. Get involved and stay informed of the Association's happenings. We need and want your input and participation. Remember, the HFFCA is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization consisting of parents and other interested people just like you -yes you! Our Executive Board, committees, coaches and team moms are all volunteers committed to serving our young people.

We are accepting applications for the position of head coach for all of our teams. Both cheer and football are seeking coaches to help our children become their best. So, if you are looking for a rewarding experience that you will never forget, contact me for a coaching application. We need other volunteers to help us during our home games. We need a "chain gang" crew to assist the referees. Every game needs three volunteers to form the chain gang and our games cannot start without them in place. Get an up-close view of the game from the sidelines. See your child from the "coach's view" What's better than that? We also need volunteers for the entrance gates where donations are received as well as our "50-50" raffle. So, come out and help. Contact your child's head coach or any member of the executive board to volunteer your services. We do appreciate it!

We have had many great years of football and cheerleading in the HFFCA and we expect this year to be among the best of them. The new season begins August 1, 2011 and we hope to see you at the fields.

Thank you for visiting the HFFCA website. Take care and God bless!

 Very truly yours,

 Bryan D. Kearney                                                                                      President, HFFCA
